How to Bake a Chicken Breast
First things first when getting ready to bake a chicken breast - you need to prep the oven (I like to set it to 375 degrees Fahrenheit) and prepare your seasonings. The number of ways you can season your chicken breast is endless - you can put a little olive oil, salt & pepper; some lemon and a touch of butter; or even some spicy Cajun seasoning. These are really just a few of the ways in which you can season your chicken.
Now, you need to put the chicken in an oven safe dish. I like to put a light coat of olive oil in the bottom of the dish so the chicken breast doesn't stick too bad when it's done. Now put your chicken in the oven and finish setting the table and making the salad!
The important thing to remember with chicken is that it must be cooked thoroughly for the safety of those eating it. The chicken can potentially be carrying Salmonella bacteria, which can make you very, very sick and can even kill you. By ensuring that the core temperature of the chicken breast is at 165 degrees Fahrenheit, you can be sure that you're eliminating any traces of bacteria.
As for cooking time, it usually takes about 20 minutes in an oven that has been pre heated for one or two chicken breasts. But this may vary from oven to oven - the best way is to check the core temperature with a meat thermometer to be sure your chicken breast is done!
