Whats Make a Good diet for diabetic
As we have mentioned from time to time there are certain foods that diabetics should be mindful of when eating. Since everyone is different in what their bodies can tolerate and what foods they may have allergic reactions to. There is not a one size fit all approach in creating a good diet for diabetics.
However there are certain guidelines that make it easier to come up with a diet for diabetics meal plan. The guidelines that a diabetic should follow are:
#1 Incorporate more fiberous foods. As we discussed before these are foods such as beans, whole grains, vegetables and fruits and should be at least 14 grams per every 1,000 calories that you consume.
#2 Try to eat foods that have a low glycemic index such as beans, fruits (apples and oranges), oats, barley, beans, lentils, legumes, and low fat dairy. Kefir is an excellent alternative to drinking whole mile and it is an excellent probiotic as well.
#3 The ADA has recommended that a diet for diabetics include 2 grams of plant sterols and stanols. Apparently, these can help in lowering a persons LDL cholesterol level. You can typically find these plant sterols and stanols in such items as margarine spreads, orange juice, cereals, and granola bars. It is important that you pay special attention to the amount of carbohydrates, especially in orange juice since drinking orange juice can cause a spike in sugar levels.
The best thing that a person with diabetes can do to manage the disease is eat a healthy diet for diabetics. Stay away from processed foods and eat more natural foods and you should be able to control your sugar levels just fine.
